Would You Like A Lancaster County Historic House For Free? Just One Catch...

Lancaster PA,Lancaster County, historic homes, preservation, trust,West Hempfield, farmhouse, real estateThis past weekend a story broke around the Lancaster County area that a historic stone home was being given away.  The catch?  You've got to MOVE it from where it sits today.

Joe Patterson, Executivee Director of the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County, sent a follow-up email today looking for interested parties.  The house is known as the Gerber-Garber home and it's located along Route 30 at the Prospect Road exit - 3948 Continental Drive.  The circa 1753 farm has seen a lot of publicity in 2012, with numerous articles and news coverage (see this video).

The owners of the 16 acre property, which is slated for development for industrial use, are willing to let someone take the house if they can move it.  The move is expected to cost approximately $100,000 plus renovation costs.  Interested?  You can contact Mr. Patterson at joepatterson@hptrust.org.
